Before reading, please take three minutes to watch this video. It is an outstanding campaign launch ad. https://www.ahlmanfornebraska.com/
For decades, Americans have been sold a lie: that if you worked hard, followed the rules, and kept your head down, you could build a stable life and pass something better on to your children. Instead, millions watch as corporations ship jobs overseas, monopolies crush competition, Wall Street buys entire neighborhoods, and political elites enrich themselves while ordinary Americans drown in debt, rising prices, medical crises, and despair.
The American people are not stupid. They know exactly what happened.
A corrupt bipartisan political establishment sold the country out to monopolists, lobbyists, hedge funds, defense contractors, and billionaire donors. Republicans and Democrats alike became servants of an economic order that extracts wealth from working people and transfers it upward to an insulated ruling class. They distract Americans with endless culture wars while corporations cannibalize communities, crush family farms, buy our homes, jack up prescription prices, poison our politics, and turn basic necessities into luxuries.
I am tired of watching working Americans sacrificed so oligarchs can become even richer. I am tired of watching elites lecture struggling families about morality while they insider trade, cash corporate checks, and send other people’s children to die in endless wars that enrich defense contractors. I am tired of a political establishment that would rather divide ordinary people than confront the concentrated corporate power suffocating this country.
That is why I believe economic populism is the future of American politics.
People like Austin Ahlman and Dan Osborn resonate because they speak to the reality millions of Americans actually live. Plant closures. Eviction notices. Crushing medical debt. Crops failing. Corporate abuse. Communities abandoned by both parties while politicians collect donations from the very corporations destroying local economies. Their message is powerful because it is real. It is not manufactured by consultants in Washington. It is forged through suffering, struggle, and survival.
Economic populists are not trying to divide Americans. The establishment does that deliberately because divided people are easier to manipulate and easier to rob. Economic populists are trying to unite the people this system abandoned: workers, farmers, ranchers, small business owners, young people drowning in debt, families unable to afford homes, and communities sacrificed on the altar of corporate profit.
I support breaking up monopolies that rig markets and suffocate workers, consumers, farmers, ranchers, and small businesses. I support banning congressional stock trading, ending Super PACs, crushing corporate lobbying power, and removing billionaire money from politics. I support taking on greedy corporate landlords buying up American homes while families cannot afford one themselves.
I support workers. I support farmers. I support expanding Social Security and capping prescription drug prices so Americans do not have to choose between groceries and medication. I support expanding Medicare access for all because no one should go bankrupt for getting sick.
I support personal freedom and civil liberties because I am sick of watching ordinary Americans treated like subjects to monitor instead of citizens to represent. I support the Second Amendment. I oppose the surveillance state, warrantless spying, censorship regimes, and the growing alliance between Big Government and Big Tech that increasingly views dissent as a threat to control. I support legal marijuana and the right of adults to make their own choices and live their lives without being harassed by bureaucrats, moral crusaders, or culture war profiteers whose only talent is keeping Americans divided and distracted.
I support ripping apart the mountains of red tape that suffocate workers, farmers, small businesses, and ordinary people while giant corporations receive endless loopholes, subsidies, bailouts, and special treatment. I support ending the grip of the military-industrial complex that has turned endless war into one of America’s most profitable industries while working families pay the price in blood, taxes, inflation, and instability.
And yes, I oppose the untouchable elite class — the billionaire donor class, the Epstein class, the oligarchs, the insiders, the political parasites — who believe wealth and connections place them above accountability, above the law, and above the destruction they inflict on the country. They crashed economies, rigged markets, gutted communities, outsourced jobs, corrupted politics, and hollowed out the American middle class while lecturing ordinary people about “democracy” and “decency.” Yes, Republicans and Democrats.
The establishment’s argument is always the same: lower your expectations, fall in line, and accept whatever uninspiring corporate-backed candidate the party machinery places in front of you because they are supposedly “good enough.” But “good enough” is exactly how America ended up captured by oligarchs. A seat in power is not supposed to be a retirement plan for professional politicians or a comfortable holding position for party loyalists who spend their careers protecting donors and preserving the status quo. Public office is an extraordinary concentration of power that should be used aggressively. Americans are tired of politicians who stand for nothing except maintaining their own careers. They want leaders willing to fight — not carefully managed corporate puppets whose only real purpose is to occupy a seat, obey party leadership, and keep the donor machine running.
Taking on monopolies is far from radical. Breaking corporate power, enforcing antitrust laws, and making markets serve workers and consumers is overwhelmingly popular. It is the natural response of a country that has been looted by people who confuse exploitation with leadership and corruption with success. And whether the establishment likes it or not, Americans are beginning to recognize exactly who robbed them.
We need independent, anti-establishment, working-class people in public office.
